Support for Carers

Respite care is when someone else looks after the person that you care for so that you can have a well-deserved break.

Care and Share is a Commonwealth Support at Home Program (CHSP) providing low level support to promote independence and help people to remain at home for as long as possible. Care and Share can also assist carers to maintain care relationships through providing quality social support. CHSP is not designed for older people with more intensive or complex care needs as they are outside the scope of the program. However, CHSP social support groups such as Care and Share, can be a low-level care alternative for carers, enabling them to have a regular break with the confidence of knowing that their loved one will have a safe and enjoyable day out.

Just ask Jan and Ron

Ron attends Care and Share at Trinity each week and he really enjoys the company, group activities and sharing a home style cooked meal with others who attend. While Ron participates in the day program, Jan can catch up on home duties, go to appointments, the hairdresser or out with the girls for lunch. Jan has the assurance that Ron will be meaningfully engaged within the friendly community at Care and Share.
